Kind-Lee makes handcrafted, luxurious scented candles in very small batches, based in a suburb of Kansas City. Born out of a desire to create a home-based business that allows her to better balance being a mom and entrepreneur, Daryl Forkell launched Kind-Lee in February 2026 with an initial offering of soy wax candles and plans to expand into other gift categories.

Daryl was born and raised in Kansas City and lives there now with her son, siblings, parents, and friends. After graduating high school in 1989, she embarked on a 20-year adventure in Southern California where she obtained a degree and built an impressive career in brand design and marketing. One of her career highlights was being a partner in Design Tonic, a boutique marketing firm in downtown Los Angeles that focused on the fashion industry. She returned to Kansas City in 2009 to work for the beloved Hallmark brand and to be closer to family. After 15 years supporting Hallmark Gold Crown and Hallmark Business Connections business units as a creative product and marketing leader, Daryl decided it was time to take on a new challenge.

With Kind-Lee, Daryl is building her own brand in her hometown with the hopes of it growing into a business she and her family can be part of for many years to come.
